Part Used:  Inner bark of the LaPacho Tree

Active Constituents:

Quinones - the anthraquinones (2-acetoxymethylanthroquinone, anthraquinone-2-aldehyde, 2-hydroxymethylanthraquinone, 1-hydroxyanthraquinone)  and napthoquiones (lapachol, alpha-lapachone, beta-lapachone, menaquinone-1)

Medicinal Actions:

Anti-bacterial, antifungal, anti-inflammatory, anti-parasitic, anti-viral, astringent, immunomodulator

Medicinal Uses:

1)Tabebuia is a South American herb.  It is used to treat both acute and chronic illness.  It may be used both internally and topically. 

2)Very potent antimicrobial

3)Astringent

4)Immunomodulator potent at stimulating the body’s response.

5)The herb has been shown to exhibit anti-neoplastic activity and it is used to treat breast cancer, blood and bone marrow cancers.

6) It is a primary anti-fungal used internal for dysbiosis, used both externally and internally.

7)The naphthoquinones have shown anti-viral activity against Herpes type I and II and against influenza.

8)Respiratory system and enteric system treatment

Pharmacy:

            Infusion:         1 TBS/cup water TID - QID

            Tincture (1:5, 1:3):  15 - 40 drops TID - QID

                                          Cancer 1 tsp TID (per Bill Mitchell, ND)
