Medicinal Actions:

Alterative, cardiotropic, cathartic, diaphoretic, diuretic, emetic, expectorant, lymphagogue, sialagogue

Medicinal Uses:

1)Stillingia is indicated for use in upper respiratory (and lower since it is a lymphagogue) and bronchial infections where the tissues exhibit swelling and erythema.  They are used in a dry cough, especially if secretions have been suppressed. 

2)As a lymphagogue, it will help move the products of cellular breakdown from the nodes and out of the body.  The eclectics used it for many diseases including syphilis.  It is indicated for use with pharyngitis, laryngeal irritation and inflammation, tonsillitis, chronic bronchitis.

3)Have used it for chronic constipation to increase intestinal secretions, hepatic congestion and to treat hemorrhoids secondary to hepatic congestion.  To clear and cleanse the liver.

4) He also used it to treat allergic children "pasty-looking, white, putty-faced children who are anemic, and who have no appetite, are subject to middle ear trouble and general debility. When there is stagnation .

5)Good for chronic lymphadenitis on the neck

6)Long term use for this condition is recommended. 

7)Used topically, the liniment is used topically to treat spasmodic and catarrhal croup.  A syrup taken internally is recommended. 

8)The topical application also reduces the pain and inflammation of laryngitis and pharyngitis.  It is also used topically for the pain and inflammation of rheumatoid arthritis. 

9)Remember the indications of inflamed accompanied with redness, erythematous pain and you can use this botanical regularly.

Contraindications:

            Plants must be used within two years of being picked, or efficacy decreases dramatically. doses Overdosing will produce gastroenteritis, diarrhea, vomiting, tachycardia, muscular weakness and prostration.  This herb is contraindicated in pregnancy.

Pharmacy:

            Infusion:         1 tsp/cup water TID -QID

            Tincture (1:5, 1:1):  10 - 40 drops BID - TID

             Topical:                       Oil or strong infusion

Litamint (alcohol base rub into the skin could use oil with as an emoluent it to the skin)
