Pulmonaria officinalis (Lungwort)
Family:  Boraginaceae
Botanical Description:  Lanceolate leaves that are downy, spotted or blotched with white.  It grows in shady areas throughout temperate climates.

Allantoin, flavonoids (kaempferol, quercitin), mucilage, nutrients (vitamin C), saponins, tannins
Medicinal Actions:
Anti-hemorrhagic, anti-inflammatory, astringent, emollient, expectorant, vulnerary
Medicinal Use:
1)       Pulmonaria is an expectorant for catarrhal lung conditions. 
2)       It is indicated for treatment of bronchitis, coughs, colds, influenza, and historically was used to treat tuberculosis. 
3)       Deep lung infectious inflammatory
4)       Patient who are coughing out blood in the sputum
5)       It will give immediate relief to painful spasmodic cough
6)       Externally to heal wound it helps pull out stuff and not let have an abscess
7)       Nutrient makes person stronger
8)       Good for debilitated pt. Since it is nutritious
9)       It is gentle, soothing and its anti-inflammatory, emollient, expectorant action bring relief.  It can also reduce the pain and inflammation of pharyngitis.  Allantoin is soothing and anti-inflammatory to the tissues.
10)    The astringent action reduces diarrhea and the pain of hemorrhoids.  Externally it is a vulnerary and can be used to reduce healing time of wounds, cuts and lesions. It works well with other expectorants, smooth muscle relaxers and anti-microbials.

            Infusion:           1 – 2 tsp/cup water TID – QID
            Tincture (1:5):  5 ml TID
            Fluid Extract (1:1):            1 – 2 ml TID
