Medicinal Actions:
Anti-inflammatory, anti-spasmodic, expectorant, hypotensive, mucolytic
Medicinal Uses:
1)       Saponin ans resince that good for respiratory
2)       Spasmotic cought
3)       Asthma
4)       Smooth muscle relaxer
5)       As an expectorant, Grindelia is indicated for treatment of dry, unproductive cough. 
6)       It relaxes smooth muscle and cardiac muscle, so is frequently included in formulas for treatment of asthma, bronchitis and pertussis.  It is indicated for use in treatment of any cough that may include nervous excitement or irritation due to the relaxation of cardiac muscle.
7)       Itenaceous mucolytic it also is a good mucolytic, thinning the mucus for easier expectoration.  The mucolytic action effects the lungs and the upper respiratory membranes, so Grindelia may be used to treat colds, hay fever and influenza.
8)        The phenolic compounds have an anti-microbial effect on the tissues as well. 
9)       A lotion or infusion of Grindelia is used topically to treat the dermatitis of poison ivy and poison oak. Treat pluritis on skin
10)     It also can be used to treat tinea corporis on body not as much on feet, unguium, etc.  It must be applied several times daily (3-4 times daily per Dr. Bill Mitchell) and it will take a month and go away and not return
11)    treat in selenium sufide  
Pharmacy:
            Infusion:  1 tsp/cup H2O TID – QID
            Tincture (1:5):  2 ml TID – QID for poison oak and ivy since it is the resin that needs to be in lotion and dabbed on poison ivy to not spread the poison.
            Fluid Extract (1:1):  1 ml TID – QID
