Medicinal Action:
Anti-catarrhal, anti-microbial, bronchodilator, carminative, decongestant, mucolytic, spasmolytic
Medicinal Uses:
1)       Eriodictyon is used for nearly any upper respiratory infection where there is abundant mucus production.  It is indicated for treatment of colds, sinusitis, laryngitis, bronchitis, asthma, allergic rhinitis and pneumonia. 
2)       Specific indications according to Scudder include "cough with abundant and easy expectoration”.  Watkins states “chronic asthma with cough, profuse expectoration, thickening of the bronchial membrane, loss of appetite, impaired digestion and emaciation”.  Felter  361.
3)       Used for tuberculosis
4)       Anticatarrhal, anti-microbial, spasmolytic thus good for mucous in upper respiratory infection
5)       Gentle has secondary action in the digestive
6)       It has a supportive effect on digestive function, both stimulating the release of digestive enzymes and having a carminative effect.  It is eliminated through the kidneys, so is also included in urinary formulas treating cystitis. Has antiseptic action in the urinary tract.
7)       Could use the resin
8)       Add to asthma formula. Good for thick mucous
9)       Grow all over pacific west and sierra california, idaho and montana, arizona shrubby plants
 
Pharmacy: 
            Infusion:  1 tsp /cup H2O TID – QID
            Tincture (1:5):   15 – 60 drops TID – QID
            Sinus Lavage:  5 – 10 drops in saline solution as a sinus douche QD – BID
